When did I become like this?

“The audience is dead”—with “the audience deserves to die” always on my lips.
How did I come to expect that abolishing the role of the spectator would liberate the audience?
It started with a seed.
I really have been to the abyss. There, all this sincerity was of no use; the methods and approaches still fell far short!
Here is one record:
A Shock: I Was Made into an “Artist.” Notes from a Residency at Tianmuli, Hangzhou.
When false connections are severed and you find yourself in a new environment, what hunger and thirst you feel.
Looking back, it was clearly an opportunity to test things against reality.
I had plainly failed, which meant that my earlier efforts had been nothing more than wishful thinking.
But I refused to accept failure. I saw the other side, that boundless power.
Rotting flesh was so beautiful. Devouring my own eyeballs, tearing apart my own entrails, trampling on human nature—the sensation was a surging climax.
My dried-up creative inspiration began to flow again. An endless expanse awaited exploration.
As I kept watching, the abyss began to drip out of the work.
It enveloped everything in my life. I became the emissary of this force—it was so useful! Within a virtual reality, I changed reality and broke through the virtual.
For example:
Porphyria: Notes on the Premiere
Premiere Tickets on Sale | The Countdown to Porphyria ······ Will You Run the Dungeon That Could Change Your Fate?
As creative inspiration surged, reality changed too.
My relationships with my co-creators shifted from collaboration to domination.
Because I was right. I was always right. I had taken possession of the creative space, this virtual reality; I had created a virtual reality. So I could always make my own reasoning seem consistent. I became the master of a universe with myself at its centre.

After that, I could no longer hear any criticism or discussion, because I held the reality I saw tightly in my own hands. I could bring about life or death with a single thought. And I affected many people, wiped out many people—so very many people. This is theatre’s capacity, its influence, its power, its destructiveness.
Then came domination, exploitation, and abandonment once people had been used up. Like sucking blood.
Intensifying and distorting the actors’ trauma did indeed produce many spectacles.

But the splits continued. Only when I was the last one left did I realize how long I had been possessed.
When I looked back, there were bodies everywhere.
This was a killing machine called love.
Pink and red stickers concealed the cruelty and bloodshed behind them.
It was no different from the adversaries we all faced.
Only when those words finally applied to me did I understand what they meant.
The demon in my heart appeared before me in such concrete form that I could even touch it.
To kill it, I could use only the sword called reality.
Love is love. Harm is not.
I need to turn the demon into words, confine it firmly within them, and give it a little prod when I need to draw on it.
In reality, I need to love particular people through concrete actions. To heal, to help, to serve.
Long live solidarity!!
