Bodies on stage belong to a process of making
The 2020 materials describe Cocoon as dance theatre. Its credits name Huang Yiyin as director and Hao Jie in choreography and performance, alongside dancers including Sun Xiaonan, Chen Du, Gu Yulan, Wu Fan and He Linli. The bodies on stage emerge through the work of identifiable people.
The account of sixteen days and nights at P4 adds shared working time to that project history. The announcement, dance-theatre introduction and later backstage conversation offer different materials: an introduction to the event, an account of making it and space for participants to keep speaking.

Read movement alongside rehearsal and collaboration
When reading these materials, movement need not be translated into one fixed story. Begin with how dancers appear and how bodies meet the stage, then follow the writing into rehearsal, choreography and other production roles. Images can remain connected to the work that produced them.
Cocoon also shows how a work presented at P4 brings its own director, performers and collaborators. Following the credits preserves the work’s particular authorship while making its relationship to a shared space legible.
